Held

Oh you who wants to hold the cares of others

Hear the whisper of the divine inviting you to be held

Held by the natural world,
Serenading you with the sweet whistle of the cardinals

Held by music,
Allowing you explore emotions you didn’t know you needed to feel

Held by grace,
Telling you to move with ease in your fatigued body

Held by friends,
Who see both your growing edges and strengths

Held by yourself,
So you can delve into a deeper knowing of who you are

Held by silence,
That when you dare to enter it has much to say

Held by the earth,
Compelling you to kiss the ground gently with your feet

Held by the present moment,
Wanting you to find the gift of just this

Held by children’s laughter,
Encouraging your whole body to smile

Held by hope,
Even when the world seems on the verge of collapse

To even be held by the bath water,
That is there to cleanse and make you new

Now that you have been held

You can go back and care for the needs of others

The voice softly speaks again

You want to journey alone

But I am here to hold you too
