I sang “Jesus Loves The Little Children” to my children last night and sighed.
My children went to bed satiated, while the bellies of children across the world ache.
My kids lie on soft bedding, while others sleep on dirty floors under raggedy tents.
My little loves are safe, while bullets and bombs shred the bodies of children just as valuable as mine.
They are precious in God’s sight…
Can we turn this melodic song and love into a verb?
Do we know deep in our bones that ALL our youngsters are sacred gifts?
I sighed again. Taking in the bleakness, but also holding hope in my heart.
Will we love the little children of the world?
